January 1 – New Year's Day Monday, January 15, 9 a.m. The Queens Chapter of the American Guild of Organists will hold a one-day Mini-Convention at the Community Church of Douglaston, 39-50 Douglaston Parkway, from 9 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Throughout the day, there will be various workshop and training opportunity for church musicians. Monday, March 12, 9:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. A Capacity Building Grant Workshop for Faith-based and Community-based Organizations will be held at First Presbyterian Church of Jamaica, 91- 164th Street, Jamaica. The Compassion Capital Fund Targeted Capacity Building Program, a federal grant program for faith-based and community-based organizations that serve distressed communities, will provide one-time grants of up to $50,000 to help new and emerging organizations build their capacity. More than 300 grants are expected to be awarded this year. Federal representatives will also provide information about other grant programs and capacity building resources. The text is based upon Psalm 150. An Address will be given by AGO Executive Director Mr. James Thomashower.
