Information Services

The Queens Federation maintains contact with over 700 Christian congregations in Queens. Each year, the number of congregations increases! Beyond the Borough, the Federation is part of a network of information sharing which benefits the entire religious community.

During the past year, the Federation completed a major data gathering effort to learn more of the various ministries which are done in local congregations. These data will enable more effective information and referral services and they will also permit us, on behalf of the whole Church in Queens, to analyze both needs and trends in religious ministry. An abstract on each congregation appears as a web page here at the QFC's web site. Click on "Directory" on the top menu to be taken to the various indices why which you can access information on any Queens congregation.

On Easter Sunday 2000, the Federation began publication of The Nexus of Queens as a tri-weekly newspaper distributed through 60 churches and by mail to 4,000 individuals and organizations. The publication of The Nexus of Queens went online in October 2002 and can be seen by an even wider audience today.

There are a number of ongoing mechanisms to communicate the work of ministry in our midst. Among them are:

• Clergy Identification Cards are issued annually to all clergy serving Christian congregations in Queens. This ID is helpful in gaining access to some of the institutions in which ministry is exercised.

• Resource/Welcome Packets to clergy new to Queens.

• Expanding our database which presently lists nearly 3,000 local church "Special Ministries," directing persons to those congregations which are providing the ministry they seek. You may access this information from our Directory section on this web site.

• Matching congregations with competent private agencies for more effective outreach programs in our local communities.
