Junia Dawkins

The ministry of Junia A. Dawkins is an inspiration to the people of The Evangelical Lutheran Church of Christ in Rosedale, Queens in which she serves. Mrs. Dawkins is a native of Barbados, West Indies, where her father was a Minister in the Church of God denomination. Mrs. Dawkins, a member of the parish for over 25 years, serves as Secretary of the Altar Guild, is a Sunday Church School Teacher, Youth Group Advisor, Lector, Hymns Board Manager, Usher, and Assistant to the Head Usher. She is a member of several other committees within the church and also serves as the Sexton of the church. Wherever and whenever the need arises, she is always ready and willing to extend a helping hand. She welcomes visitors to the church and always tries to encourage them to become part of the congregation.

When opportunities were announced to help in the care of the needy through ministries of the Queens Federation of Churches, she was the only one from the parish to respond – and still works at the Emergency Food Service pantry in Jamaica. In 2008, Mrs. Dawkins was honored with the Citation for Faithful Service for her work at the pantry which she calls a service of love and caring.

Mrs. Dawkins resides in Rosedale with Stephen, her husband.
