January 1 – New Years Day January 16 – Martin Luther King Day Wednesday, January 18 - 6:30 p.m. The Week of Prayer for Christian Unity (January 18-25) will be marked with an ecumenical service at St. Patrick's Cathedral, Manhattan, co-sponsored by the Council of Churches of the City of New York and the Roman Catholic Archdiocese of New York. Cardinal-designate Timothy M. Dolan will preside. The Rev. Dr. A. R. Bernard, president of the Council of Churches, will be the preacher of the evening. Friday, January 27 – 6 p.m. Celebration of 81 Years of Ecumenical Ministry in Queens at Terrace On The Park. The Annual Dinner Celebration of the Queens Federation of Church will feature a reception at 6 p.m. followed by Dinner (at 7 p.m.) during which annual awards for Outstanding Leadership in Queens will be presented. April 1 – Palm Sunday April 8 – Easter Wednesday, April 18 – 11:30 a.m. The Bishop Wright Aviation Awards Luncheon, sponsored by Christ for the World Chapel at JFK Airport, will be held at Russo's On The Bay, 162-45 Crossbay Boulevard, Howard Beach. Saturday, April 28 The Queens Federation of Churches Spring Choir Festival will be held at 4:30 p.m. at Grace Episcopal Church, Jamaica Avenue west of Parsons Boulevard, Jamaica. May 3 – Seminar: Financial Planning for Clergy A Seminar on Financial Planning for Clergy will be sponsored by the Queens Federation of Churches at First Presbyerian Church in Jamaica, 89-62 164th Street, Jamaica. Monday, September 3 – Labor Day Monday, September 10 U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) will sponsor a Foreclosure Prevention Workshop For Homeowners to provide information on HUD programs to assist homeowners who are at risk of foreclosure and otherwise struggling with their monthly mortgage payments. HUD staff will be available to help answer your questions and provide resources to avoid foreclosure. The Workshop will be repeated from 12n to 1pm and again at 1 to 2pm, at 26 Federal Plaza, Manhattan, HUD Training Room, 36-108. Learn about the national mortgage settlement tips to avoid foreclosure, fair housing rights, the FHA resource center and the FHA frequently asked questions database. Sunday, November 11 - CANCELLED The Fall Assembly of the Queens Federation of Churches will be held at Faith Chapel on the grounds of the Creedmoor Psychiatric Center, Queens Village. Wednesday, November 14 The 29th annual Scout Awards Dinner will feature the presentation of the Shepard Emblem and Interfaith Leadership Awards, 7 p.m. at Manor's Oktoberfest, 73-11 Yellowstone Boulevlard, Forest Hills. November 22 – Thanksgiving Day Friday, November 23– 8:00 a.m. to 3 p.m. Annual Ten Commandments Hike sponsored by the Committee on Youth Ministry and Scouting of the Queens Federation of Churches. This year's Hike has been cancelled.
