ELCA Member Named President of Lutheran Services in America

CHICAGO – Charlotte Haberaecker will be installed Aug. 22 as president and CEO of Lutheran Services in America. A member of the Evangelical Lutheran Church in America (ELCA), Haberaecker is the fourth president of Lutheran Services in America.

In alliance with the ELCA, Lutheran Services in America is made up of more than 300 health and human service organizations with aggregated annual incomes of more than $18.3 billion.

"Charlotte will be living her Lutheran and Christian vocation overtly in this new call. (Her leadership) comes at an opportune time as the ELCA is inviting the treasurer of its social ministry organizations to be partnership with congregations engaged in developing mission strategies, which are being designed to seek renewed partnerships with their surrounding communities," according to the Rev. Stephen Bouman, executive director for congregational and synodical mission at ELCA churchwide ministries. Bouman is a member of the Lutheran Services in America board and will participate in the installation.

Haberaecker was the chief operating officer of Global Impact. She also held leadership positions at Compass Consulting, Fannie Mae and PricewaterhouseCoopers. She earned her bachelor's degree in business administration in management science at the University of Illinois.

Haberaecker is a member of Hope Lutheran Church, an ELCA congregation in Annandale, Va.

The installation will take place at The Lutheran Center in Baltimore.
