The World Council of Churches (WCC) has announced the development of a new book series on Orthodox Theology in partnership with Volos Academy, Greece. Dr Pantelis Kalaitzidis will be the editor of the series.
The series, entitled Doxa and Praxis: Exploring Orthodox Theology, "invites creative and original reflection that reappraises, re-appropriates and further develops the riches of Orthodox thought for a deeper renewal of Orthodox Christianity and for the benefit of the whole oikoumene," said Kalaitzidis.
An international panel of ten academics, including Metropolitan John (Zizioulas) of Pergamon, serve as editorial consultants to the series.
Kalaitzidis presented the Ecumenical Patriarch Bartholomew with advance copies of the first two publications, a brief glimpse at Orthodox Theology in the Twenty-First Century by Metropolitan Kallistos Ware and Kalaitzidis's own constructive proposal on Orthodoxy and Political Theology on 30 April in Istanbul. Both publications will be commercially available as of 1 July.
Like all WCC Publications, the new book series will be available through North American distributor International Specialized Book Services and UK-based Gazelle, as well as through other online retailers, such as http://www.amazon.com/.
