Church Plans to Debut Radio Network this Summer

March 17, 2011

The Episcopal Church Office of Communication will launch Episcopal Web Radio Network during the summer of 2011.

Episcopal Web Radio will begin with Spanish language programming, called Cadena Episcopal de RadioWeb, according to a press release from the Office of Public Affairs, and will be available on the Episcopal Church website.

Cadena Episcopal de RadioWeb will broadcast via radio, web radio and podcasts with Spanish programming from the United States, Latin America and the Caribbean, the release said. Among the programming will be offerings by the Rev. Alberto Cutié of Miami, an author and well-known television and radio host who is in the Diocese of Southeast Florida.

The seeds for the network were planted during a recent gathering in Miami of representatives from the Episcopal Church Center along with Latino communications leaders from the United States, Colombia, Puerto Rico and Venezuela, according to the release.

"We are excited to partner with our Latino/Latina colleagues in this new initiative," Anne Rudig, Episcopal Church director of communication, said in the release. "This offers a new way for us to tell and share our stories to audiences in this country and internationally."

The Rev. Canon Anthony Guillén, Episcopal Church Latino/Hispanic ministries officer, is coordinating the Latino programming. "The RadioWeb Network will enable the Episcopalians to support each other with content and production resources by broadcasting quality programming that will share God's love and showcase the diversity of the Episcopal Church," he said in the release.

Episcopal communicators from all over the world are due to contribute content and share technical support with the network to produce and distribute programming targeted to local and international audiences, according to Moira Rauch, communications consultant for Latino ministry.
