Local Boy Scouts Retire Flags

COLLEGE POINT, NY – The Boy Scouts of the three College Point Troops jointly held a Flag Retirement Ceremony on Thursday July 9, 2009.

This Ceremony is conducted when donated torn & tattered United States Flags are legally and properly put into a fire in a dignified private manor until totally destroyed. The ceremony involved the donation and retirement of approximately 175 United States Flags.

In attendance were no less than 4 Eagle Scouts, the volunteer adult leaders and the young men Boy Scouts of Troop 18 from Saint Fidelis Roman Catholic Church, Troop 20 from the First Reformed Church of College Point (hosting the ceremony), and Troop 230 from the Parents Association of Troop 230 that meets in the College Point Community Volunteer Ambulance Corp.
