John Bush grew up in La Crosse, Wisconsin, and spent nearly thirty years in the Twin Cities area of Minnesota. His home was in Edina with his wife, Nancy, and their children Maggie, Jack, and Henry. He was a freelance cartoonist, recreational basketball player, golfer, and frequent volunteer at his children's schools. At age fifty-two, John was diagnosed with Stage 4 non-smoker's lung cancer. He fought hard for ten months, with his humor and enthusiasm intact until he lost the battle in late July 2006. Before his death, John was excited, grateful, and humbled to know that his drawings would be pulled together as a collection in this book.
