Prison Ministries, Documentary Featured in Bulletin Insert for November 19
New Inserts to Follow on Episcopal Church History, Millennium Development Goals

November 10, 2006

Prison ministry – including a new feature-length documentary on chaplains' work at Louisiana's Angola State Penitentiary – is the focus of a new Sunday service leaflet insert designed for use on November 19.

The inserts may be downloaded and duplicated for insertion in parish bulletins. Available in English, the inserts are posted on the ENS website at http://www.episcopalchurch.org/3577_79411_ENG_HTM.htm. Inserts in Spanish will be available on Monday, November 13.

Titled "Changing Lives: Behind the Walls at Angola," the documentary features the ministry of Episcopal Deacon Charles DeGravelles, and the ministries shared by several men incarcerated in the penitentiary. The documentary was produced by Mike Collins in the Office of Communication at the Episcopal Church Center.

The bulletin inserts are a joint project of the Episcopal News Service and the Episcopal Life newspaper.

The inserts will continue with a multi-part series on Episcopal Church history to be made available for use beginning November 26 through December 17. A Christmastide message is planned for December 24, and a sequence on ministries supporting the Millennium Development Goals is set to follow into the new year.

Every effort will be made to release these new groups of inserts well in advance, respecting the production schedules in place in congregations.

The inserts are black-and-white and come in two formats: half of an 8.5" by 11" sheet double-sided and a full 8.5" by 11" one-sided (which will be available on Monday, November 13). The inserts are in PDF format so that may be downloaded for easy duplication and insertion into a congregation's service leaflet.
