Lutheran Pastor Addresses International Radio Audience

CHICAGO – The Rev. Debra Samuelson, a pastor of the Evangelical Lutheran Church in America (ELCA), will speak Oct. 16 on the "Day 1" radio program. Day 1 is broadcast across the United States and on radio stations in Canada, Nepal, Nigeria and the U.S. Virgin Islands.

Samuelson is the pastor for evangelism at Lutheran Church of the Redeemer in Atlanta. Her talk on Day 1, "The Problem of Box Elder Trees," is based on Isaiah 25 in the Christian Old Testament.

Day 1 programs include a sermon and brief interviews. A television version of Day 1 is also broadcast on the Hallmark Channel's "America at Worship" on Sunday mornings.

Formerly known as "The Protestant Hour," Day 1 has been broadcast every week for 60 years. It has won numerous awards in the process, including the George Foster Peabody Award.

Day 1 is produced cooperatively by the ELCA, Episcopal Media Center, United Methodist Church, Presbyterian Church (U.S.A.) and United Church of Christ.
