In September 2003, more than 8,000 delegates
from all over the world will gather in Nairobi, Kenya, to discuss
the AIDS pandemic.
The Council of Anglican Provinces of Africa (CAPA)
has been given an opportunity to present a paper at the historic
International Conference on HIV/AIDS and Sexually Transmitted Infections
in Africa (ICASA) which will run from 21-26 September.
It is expected that CAPA's initiatives in the
Provinces will be brought out at the conference, which brings together
political and social leaders, scientists, funding agencies and social
workers. CAPA Secretariat has urged Provinces to sponsor their AIDS
coordinators to attend this important gathering.
This year's theme is "Improving Access to Care,"
an issue that is now receiving global attention because of the enormous
strain that AIDS is presenting to medical facilities and affected
communities. Participants will share experiences and latest information
on care and support.
